PHS offers the following courses, as approved by the College Board through the AP Audit: Biology, Chemistry, Calculus AB, English Language & Composition, English Literature & Composition, and United States Government & Politics.  Course descriptions can be found in the PHS Course Catalog and Academic Guide. Students who enroll in an AP course are encouraged to take the AP exam in May and are required to submit payment before tests will be ordered. For 2016 the test fee is $92. Students who qualify for free/reduced lunch are eligible for an AP fee waiver and can take the test at a significantly reduced charge.

There are many benefits to taking an AP course, including the possibility of earning college credit.  Before registering for multiple AP exams, students are advised to research the various credit policies at colleges of interest. You may find, for example, that the college of your choice will not grant credit for both AP English Literature and AP English Language. Follow the link below to use the AP Credit Policy search tool provided by the College Board.
